Judges

The judges of the 2008 Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize are Edmund Capon AM, OBE (Director, Art Gallery of NSW) and Deborah Edwards (Senior Curator of Australian Art, Art Gallery of NSW).

Pre-selection judging for up to 40 finalists in the 2008 Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize exhibition.

Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 October
All finalists works to be delivered to Woollahra Council Chambers.

Friday 24 October
Launch of the 2008 Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize exhibition and announcement of Acquisitive Winner and Special Commendation.

Saturday 25 October - Sunday 2 November
9am - 5pm weekdays, 10am - 4pm weekends.
2008 Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize exhibition of finalists. Free entry. Viewers' Choice winner announced following the conclusion of the exhibition.

Wednesday 5 November
All finalists to arrange collection of works by this date.

Prizes

Prizes for the 2008 award total $13,000 and include:

  • The Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize, an acquisitive award of $10,000
  • The Special Commendation, a non-acquisitive award of $2,000
  • The Viewers' Choice, a non-acquisitive award of $1,000

Cultural Projects Assistants

Woollahra Council is seeking up to three volunteer Cultural Projects Assistants to contribute to implementing the 2008 Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize between May and November 2008.

Cultural Projects Assistant duties could include:

  • website content development
  • exhibition installation and exhibition opening night coordination
  • gallery attendance
  • administrative tasks (databasing entries, preselection judging, entry distribution)
  • programming opportunities (schools visits, artist talks, Kids Day Out).

Benefits of volunteering include:

  • Opportunities to develop skills in the planning, programming and implementation of a significant national arts prize.
  • Opportunities to meet others who have an interest in visual arts.
  • Be a valuable member of the Community Service team.
  • Contribute to the cultural development of the community.
