Judges

The judges of the 2009 Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize are Geoffrey Cassidy (Director, Artbank), Neil Balnaves (The Balnaves Foundation) and Diane Balnaves (The Balnaves Foundation).

Prizes

Prizes for the 2009 award total $13,000 and include:

  • The Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize, an acquisitive award of $10,000
  • The Special Commendation, a non-acquisitive award of $2,000
  • The Viewers' Choice, a non-acquisitive award of $1,000

Preliminary judging. Artists selected for exhibition will be notified by phone or email no later than Wednesday 26 August. Further arrangements will then be made regarding the delivery and collection of works. Artists selected for exhibition must provide two catalogue quality images of their final work and artist statements by Friday 11 September.

Launch of the 2009 Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize exhibition of finalists and announcement of winners

Exhibition of finalists open to the public. FREE. Viewers' Choice winner announced following the conclusion of the exhibition.

Cultural Projects Assistant volunteer opportunities

Woollahra Council is seeking up to three volunteer Cultural Projects Assistants to contribute to implementing the 2009 Woollahra Small Sculpture Prize between May and November 2009.

Cultural Projects Assistant duties could include:

  • website content development
  • exhibition installation and exhibition opening night coordination
  • gallery attendance
  • administrative tasks (databasing entries, preselection judging, entry distribution)
  • programming opportunities (schools visits, artist talks, Kids Day Out).

Benefits of volunteering include:

  • Opportunities to develop skills in the planning, programming and implementation of a significant national arts prize.
  • Opportunities to meet others who have an interest in visual arts.
  • Be a valuable member of the Community Service team.
  • Contribute to the cultural development of the community.
