Grey Areas is a work of tension derived from binary oppositions. These include the inherent two-dimensionality of paper against its almost limitless potential for three-dimensionality, our understanding of the blank page as 'surface' against the concept of it as a finished work, and the ephemeral nature of paper – a disposable product – opposing the anticipated permanence of the art object.
These are all grey areas – somewhere between black and white, right and wrong, expected and unexpected.
