The mythical Post Colonial Bunyip humorously readdresses the natural order of things in contemporary native Australia. In Post Colonial Bunyip the mythical Bunyip has been displaced and brought into the context of a postcolonial Australia.
This work incorporates material references to Australian native and feral animals through the use of animal parts. These are combined with a colonial outfit and human features like the erratic disembodied eyeball that darts around in an uneasy agitated state. This Frankensteinian assemblage is fused with a mechanical undercarriage; Post Colonial Bunyip is now able to traverse its new postcolonial urban environment.
