Born in Melbourne in 1947, Andrew Southall is primarily a painter who "loves paint" and "responds to all painting - except house painting - with varying degrees of interest and fascination".
Andrew has been a finalist in the Blake Prize, Dominique Sagan Drawing Prize, Darebin LaTrobe Art Prize and this year's Wyndham Art Prize and National Works on Paper Prize. His works are featured in the collections of the National Gallery of Victoria, Toorak Teachers' College, New England Regional Art Gallery, NSW Parliament Offices, Stock Exchange, New Parliament House Canberra, Comico Holdings in the UK, Reuters America and others. Since 1975 numerous galleries have exhibited his works including London's Crane Kalman Gallery, Melbourne's Australian Galleries, Solander Gallery in Canberra and Perth's Greenhill Gallery.
