Luxuria combines several sources of inspiration: French Romanesque sculptures of the Seven Deadly Sins; the surrealist notion of amour fou (mad love); and the relentless hip thrusting of contemporary raunch culture. The snake/phallus refers to the mediaeval iconography of lust, while the circularity evokes the continuity or karma or solipsism of desire.
