How do you extract the colour? Not with care or deliberation or with contemplation, but with sweat and rage and adrenaline and with the metaphoric axe. This work provided the key to all the works from my recent exhibition at Australian Galleries earlier this year. The axe extracts the colour hiding in the wood.
