This sculpture is a constructed work, drawing inspiration from the altar piece in the Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari in Venice, and using the image of Titian's Assumption. Altar Piece with its crumbling stairs and roughly sawn cedar construction is in a near state of collapse, suggesting the breaking down of order. Perhaps religion, but more importantly, I see the fragility of the sculpture echoing society in a delicate balance.
