The title of this sculpture plays off the idea of a status symbol. The shiny chrome surface and weight of the object is intentionally meant to appear like a shiny chrome bumper bar on a vehicle. However, these co-joined shoes are the opposite of mobility while having the glamour and flair associated with chrome detailing on an opulent and fast moving car. Stasis Symbol is meant to both amuse and disturb; to be narcissistic and useless while at the same time reflecting a critique of these very states.
