Earlier this year I accompanied a primatologist on a trip into Central Borneo to record a near extinct species of monkey known as the Grey Leaf Monkey or scientifically known as Presbytis hosei. This monkey has little taxonomic record and my role was to record it for both scientific records, as well as part of my ongoing visual art practice. During the trip we only saw one live specimen of the monkey, a male scout, venturing to the river edge to search for dangers before his family came to feed. I recreated this monkey with the help of archives at Melbourne Museum.
