'We are all equal in the fact that we are all different. We are all the same in the fact that we will never be the same. We are united by the reality that all colours and all cultures are distinct and individual.' - C. JoyBell
This work explores diversity within the vastness of the natural world and uses this as a metaphor for human experience. Like sand on a beach, in a collective mass, human beings are strikingly similar, and yet when examined individually, the only thing we actually have in common is our difference. As a maker I know that each mark, each stroke, each curve has its own flavour to be experienced and valued – as an individual, and as part of a whole.
