My work is about the intervention of forms, and their interrelation. The forms embody meaning and narrative in the work, and have both biomorphic and geometrical roots. Some are completely abstract, while others, being cast from both natural and man made objects carry echoes of reality.
I often use found objects, both natural and manmade, which when integrated into the work loses any relation to their original function, and become part of the overall abstract structure. Once the image is built, I like to emphasise the shape by adding surface embellishments and colour nuances.
I have always used only low tech materials and simple tools in making the work and I always take pleasure in the actual building of the works, and working with the materials. Despite the different formats, my work is a continuum – building abstract structures from the interrelation of forms, and a never-ending exploration of the possibilities involved.
