My practice involves the development of sculptures based upon objects that are familiar to me. Over the years, I have assembled a cast of 'characters', a group of objects that have qualities that are important to me, both personally, as well as aesthetically. In my hands, they keep some of their features but relinquish others in order to create a new identity, an artwork. The vehicle pushing them to their new identity is often our everyday language, a saying, a pun or a misinterpretation that tags the work and gives some clues as to formation of the work.
