This sculpture is part of the Baggage series, exploring and expressing things in our life we hold onto; memories, hopes and ideals.
Living in a world where borders are continually being defined and redefined, we constantly adjust our definition of our neighbours, enemies, allies and ourselves. Microcosmos responds to and addresses the fact that living in the inner city, I rarely get to see the stars. It evokes nostalgia for times past and hopefully enables us to step outside the everyday and experience, for a brief moment, to something of a childlike wonder.
