Adam Cullen & Michael Binkins's sculpture comes from the research and preparation of works proposed for exhibition at Bathurst Regional Gallery.
At its core, this is collaboration; two artists mining the landscape of Hill End for its creative potential. If alchemy is the transmutation of the base into something precious, then transmutation must lend itself as well to numerous interpretations. A hole in the ground or a heaped pile of quartz crystal may yield valuable gold; we speak of tapping a creative vein or finding pearls of wisdom. This project marks a step in the alchemical process of transubstantiation.
