My work is a series of small sculptures initially inspired by the Victoria era. The geometric forms reference the designs of neck ruffles and lace of the period, as well as the appearance of cabinets of curios and the rise in scientific discoveries in the 17th-19th centuries.
The work also draws upon ideas from the illustrations of biologist Ernst Haeckel, published in Art Forms of Nature. I'm focusing on the sea creatures it details, with the array of symmetrical and geometrical patterns found in living organisms.
