Nowadays personal communication can be intermittent, impersonal, 24/7, predominantly looking at a screen and through the tips of our fingers tapping a keyboard, where once it depended on the person in our presence and where body language gave indications of thoughts and feelings.
Anything can be expressed anonymously with a keyboard. Cyber bullying has become an enormous problem and the progressive development of 'social media', once thought to positively unite people, can totally destroy lives.
