Ava is an expression of my inner being - she was created as a ’steam of consciousness’ sculpture and is feminine in nature. What you see is the result of a conversation that I had with the raw stone - in this case Statuario Carrara marble.
I do not use maquettes or predetermine the outcome of any of my stone sculptures - they evolve naturally. Ava was totally hand carved in a very slow process of hand chiselling, filing and hand polishing in early 2019.
