My art practice is an exploration into sculptural forms influenced by architecture. There is an exciting cross-fertilisation between what I can physically create with clay and my architectural background. Just as clay likes to curve to form traditional vessels, that tendency to curve has been exploited to form arches and barrel vaults, while openings cut into the clay like windows impact the manipulation of light across surfaces. As you walk around each of the four facades of Circumvent, new compositions and perspectives are revealed to produce an intriguing whole.
