The idea came from the local tragic bushfire, The St. Ivan bushfire, in 2016 at Dunedoo/Coolah/Cassilis NSW. This work Fire Within portrays predominately heat that all bushfires generate. The black wooden beads signify the charcoaled vegetation, crops and the many homes left behind. The raffia signifies the sparse patches of vegetation that the fire miraculously didn't burn. The shape of the opening signifies the shape of the flames and the opening itself signifies the tragic and devastating holes left in the lives of our local community affected by this terrible event of nature.
